Datavault AI signs deal to power Mandela Dollar stablecoin

July 9, 2026 8:33 AM

Datavault AI Inc. (NASDAQ: DVLT) has signed a three-party joint venture agreement with Unity Reserve Holdings L.L.C. and Mandela Dlamini & Manaway L.L.C. to form Mandela Digital, a venture developing a proposed USD-backed stablecoin called the Mandela Dollar (MUSD), according to a press release from the company.

Under the agreement, Datavault AI becomes the founding and exclusive technology partner for Mandela Digital, providing its AI-powered platforms, real-world asset tokenization frameworks, and access to SanQtum AI, a zero-trust edge computing platform developed by Available Infrastructure. The technology stack will handle MUSD issuance, redemption, compliance architecture, and on-chain transparency.

MDM LLC is described as affiliated with members of the Mandela family. Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway serves as a director of MDM LLC. Unity Reserve, a digital asset development firm, conceived the Mandela Dollar framework and assembled the partnership.

MUSD is proposed as a 1:1 USD-backed stablecoin with segregated reserve custody and periodic proof-of-reserve publication. The venture is targeting remittance corridors and underbanked populations across Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. A portion of protocol revenue is directed to charitable causes aligned with Nelson Mandela's values, overseen by a governance board with representation from all three organizations.

The company noted that MUSD has not yet been developed or launched on any exchange or blockchain, and no assurance exists that it will be developed or approved in any jurisdiction. Mandela Digital stated it has not authorized any token sale, pre-sale, or initial coin offering.

"Mandela Digital gives Datavault AI a founding technology position with recurring economics in what we believe can become significant global financial infrastructure," said Nathaniel T. Bradley, CEO of Datavault AI.

The joint venture formalizes an initiative first announced in February 2026, when Datavault AI and members of the Nelson Mandela family introduced the venture publicly.
