Richardson Electronics to manufacture power supply for C-Motive motor
Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) has been selected by C-Motive Technologies as its manufacturing partner for the commercialization of C-Motive's ZeroMagĀ® electrostatic motor platform and Cascade H-Bridge medium voltage drive system, according to a press release.
Under the agreement, Richardson Electronics will provide design-for-manufacturing, engineering support, pilot production, production test development, quality planning, regulatory support, and volume manufacturing services for C-Motive's motor drive controller, with commercial production targeted to begin in 2027. Manufacturing will take place primarily at Richardson Electronics' facility in LaFox, Illinois.
C-Motive's ZeroMag motor technology uses electrostatic forces rather than permanent magnets to generate torque, eliminating the need for rare-earth magnets and reducing copper content compared to conventional electric motors. The technology is designed for stationary industrial applications such as direct-drive conveyor systems and high-volume, low-speed fans.
C-Motive estimates the addressable market for high-torque, low-speed motors in material handling and conveyance systems at nearly $3 billion.
