NewcelX Ltd. (Nasdaq: NCEL) has appointed Camillo Ricordi, M.D., to its Scientific Advisory Board, the clinical-stage biotechnology company announced July 8, 2026.

Dr. Ricordi holds positions at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he has served as Professor of Surgery, Distinguished Professor of Medicine, and Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Microbiology and Immunology since 1993. He also serves as Chief of the Division of Cellular Transplantation, Director of the Cell Transplant and NABTU Regenerative Medicine Center, and Director Emeritus of the Diabetes Research Institute. He has authored more than 1,250 publications with over 64,000 citations and holds an h-index of 123.

The appointment follows NewcelX's previously announced FDA Type B Pre-IND meeting for its lead program, NCEL-101, in which the company said it received feedback and alignment on its proposed development strategy toward initiating clinical trials.

In his new role, Dr. Ricordi will advise on the clinical translation of NewcelX's cell replacement strategy and its collaboration with Eledon Pharmaceuticals on its type 1 diabetes program.

"I am pleased to join NewcelX and look forward to supporting the advancement of its clinical strategy and its collaboration with Eledon Pharmaceuticals toward a potential functional cure for T1D," Dr. Ricordi said.

Ronen Twito, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of NewcelX, said Dr. Ricordi's "expertise and global reputation in diabetes research will be invaluable as we continue to advance our clinical development programs."

NewcelX is based in Zurich and focuses on stem-cell-derived therapies for type 1 diabetes built on a human pluripotent stem cell platform.
