Agilent adds SEC and PLRP-S columns to Altura portfolio
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) has added size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and PLRP-S columns to its Altura HPLC column portfolio, targeting analytical workflows in biopharmaceutical development and production.
The new columns are designed to support analysis of peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, and conjugated therapeutics. Specific applications include aggregate characterization, molecular weight confirmation, size distribution analysis, and drug-to-antibody ratio determination for antibody-drug conjugates.
The Altura SEC columns incorporate Ultra Inert technology and are built on the foundation of Agilent's existing AdvanceBio SEC columns. According to the company, the columns deliver up to double the sensitivity of inert competitor columns for aggregate analysis of GLP-1 peptides. The Altura PLRP-S columns are designed for liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry workflows.
David Edwards, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Chemistries and Supplies Division, said the expansion reflects "strong demand for high-performance inert column solutions" following the initial Altura launch.
Yanan Yang, Ph.D., director of the MS Center at MBC BioLabs, said the Altura columns "have delivered excellent peak shape, strong reproducibility and reliable performance even after hundreds or even thousands of injections across challenging workflows."
Both columns are available globally. Agilent reported revenue of $6.95 billion in fiscal year 2025 and employs approximately 18,000 people.
