Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ: AKAM) has been selected as a strategic security partner for World Wide Technology's (WWT) AI Readiness Model for Operational Resilience, known as ARMOR, according to a press release from Akamai.

The ARMOR framework covers six domains: governance, risk, and compliance; model security; secure AI operations; infrastructure security; data protection; and secure development lifecycle. WWT describes the framework as vendor-agnostic and applicable across cloud platforms.

Akamai's role in the framework centers on three areas. First, the company's Guardicore Segmentation product will be offloaded to Nvidia BlueField data processing units, which Akamai said accelerates ransomware containment by an average of 21.4%, reaching 32.6% for large enterprises. Second, Akamai API Security will monitor access points connected to data lakes feeding large language models. Third, Akamai's Prolexic product will provide distributed denial-of-service mitigation for AI infrastructure.

The partnership is also connected to AI infrastructure being built by WWT and accelerated by Nvidia, with Akamai described as a foundational security layer for what the companies refer to as "AI factories."

"Before ARMOR, organizations were often forced to piece together fragmented security strategies," said PJ Joseph, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Services at Akamai. "By aligning our portfolio with this framework, we are providing a proactive methodology to isolate large-scale AI clusters and prevent the lateral movement of threats without sacrificing the performance that AI training and inference demand."

"No single vendor can secure the AI frontier alone," said Chris Konrad, Global VP of Cybersecurity at WWT. "Through our close partnership with Akamai, we are turning the hype of secure enterprise AI into a tangible, scalable reality for customers."

WWT operates an Advanced Technology Center that the company uses to test and validate technology architectures before enterprise deployment. Akamai's integration into ARMOR is intended to be available through that center as a reference model for enterprises.
