Wolfspeed (NYSE: WOLF) has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Navitas Semiconductor in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, according to a company press release.

The lawsuit alleges that a broad range of Navitas products infringes five Wolfspeed patents, identified as U.S. Patent Nos. 8,169,005, 10,998,418, 10,886,396, 10,749,443, and 11,888,392. The accused products include Navitas's GaN-based FET product families — GaNFast, GaNSlim, and GaNSafe — as well as its GeneSiC MOSFETs and SiCPAK modules.

Robert Feurle, Wolfspeed's chief executive officer, stated: "Wolfspeed's foundational technology helped create this industry, and we are deeply committed to defending the intellectual property that represents decades of innovation and R&D investment. We respect the IP rights of others, and we expect the same respect in return."

Feurle added that protecting the company's patent portfolio is "a strategic priority for the company and our shareholders."

Wolfspeed is a Durham, North Carolina-based manufacturer of silicon carbide and gallium nitride semiconductor products. Navitas Semiconductor has not yet issued a public response to the lawsuit, based on available information from the press release.
