Raytheon, a business unit of RTX (NYSE: RTX), is working with European companies to double production of its Stinger missile in response to growing global demand, according to a press release issued from Ankara, Türkiye.

Germany-based Diehl Defence will produce the guidance section of the Stinger missile, sourcing related subcomponents from across Europe. Raytheon is also working with Dutch suppliers to manufacture additional major Stinger assemblies. Final assembly, testing, and completion of the missile will take place in the Netherlands.

"We are laser-focused on doubling our Stinger missile production capacity," said Tom Laliberty, president of Land & Air Defense Systems at Raytheon. "Expanding Stinger production in Europe strengthens our industrial base and broadens our global network, ensuring our allies have reliable access to this critical air defense capability."

The Stinger is a lightweight, man-portable surface-to-air missile used by ground troops against cruise missiles and aircraft. The missile is currently used by 24 countries, including 10 NATO members.

Diehl Defence CEO Helmut Rauch said the company had previously produced parts for the Stinger missile. "Producing the guidance section for new Stinger systems marks another strong chapter of cooperation between Diehl Defence and Raytheon," he said.

The expanded European production capacity is intended to support future work with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency to meet European demand. RTX reported 2025 sales of more than $88 billion and is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
