Lazard adds ex-Goldman Sachs banker Kathy Elsesser to its board
Lazard, Inc. (NYSE: LAZ) has appointed Kathy Elsesser to its Board of Directors, effective July 7, 2026, replacing Andrew M. Alper, who retired after more than 13 years of service on the board.
Elsesser retired from the Goldman Sachs partnership in 2023 after more than three decades at the firm, where she served as a partner and Global Chair of the Consumer Retail and Healthcare Groups within its Investment Banking Division. She continued as a Senior Advisor to Goldman Sachs through January 2025.
Elsesser also serves on the Board of Directors of TPG Inc., the alternative asset management firm, a role she assumed in January 2025. She is additionally a member of the Board of Trustees and Audit Chair of Sesame Workshop. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Peter R. Orszag, Lazard's CEO and Chairman, cited Elsesser's experience advising major companies as relevant to the firm's strategy. Dan Schulman, Lead Independent Director of Lazard's Board, noted her background advising boards and executives on strategic transactions.
