VolitionRx releases lung cancer study data for Nu.Q test

July 7, 2026 8:17 AM

VolitionRx Limited (NYSE American: VNRX) has released data from a clinical study examining the prognostic value of its Nu.Q Cancer Assay in newly diagnosed lung cancer patients, according to a company press release.

The study, conducted in collaboration with Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL), France's second-largest university hospital system, is currently under peer review. The paper is titled "Prognostic value of circulating H3K27Me3-nucleosomes in newly diagnosed lung cancer patients: Real-world evidence."

The study found that plasma levels of the Nu.Q Cancer assay biomarker H3K27Me3 were associated with cancer stage, with highly elevated levels observed in patients with poor outcomes. Patients with H3K27Me3-nucleosome levels below an optimal cut-off showed significantly better mean survival, particularly among those who were ctDNA-negative. A prognostic model combining the biomarker with clinical variables enabled patient stratification into low and high mortality risk groups, with survival probability predictions over a 30-month period.

Volition stated that clinical certification of the Nu.Q Cancer test at HCL has been completed. The company said it is preparing to submit a reimbursement dossier in France under the country's Innovative Procedures Outside the Nomenclature (RIHN) framework. Once a dossier is classified as admissible under that framework, a reimbursement eligibility determination is mandated within five months.

The company's Chief Commercial Officer said Volition anticipates approximately €50 per test in revenue under a direct sales model. The company is also in discussions with hospital networks in other countries and is exploring potential technology licensing arrangements with third-party collaborators.

Volition is a multinational company focused on epigenetics-based blood tests, with research and development operations centered in Belgium and additional offices in the U.S. and London.
