Praxis strikes deal with Remagine Labs on transdermal ET drug patch
Praxis Precision Medicines (NASDAQ: PRAX) and Remagine Labs have entered a research collaboration and license agreement to develop an iontophoretic transdermal patch for ulixacaltamide, Praxis's T-type calcium channel inhibitor in development for essential tremor (ET), according to a press release.
Under the agreement, the companies will apply Remagine's electronically controlled transdermal delivery platform to ulixacaltamide, which is currently being reviewed as an oral therapy by the FDA. The FDA accepted Praxis's New Drug Application for ulixacaltamide in April 2026 and set a PDUFA target action date of January 29, 2027. The drug received Breakthrough Therapy Designation in December 2025.
Praxis has also made an equity investment in Remagine Labs as part of the arrangement. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The transdermal formulation is intended to complement the oral program and potentially broaden the patient population that could be treated with ulixacaltamide. ET affects approximately seven million people in the United States.
Remagine Labs is based in Austin, Texas and Melbourne, Australia, and is supported by the University of Melbourne, Monash University, and several Australian government funding programs.
"With our NDA under FDA review and a PDUFA target action date of January 29, 2027, this collaboration lets us advance a differentiated delivery option that could expand the population we reach and extend the value of the franchise," said Marcio Souza, president and chief executive officer of Praxis Precision Medicines.
