Blue Moon Metals plans 67,000-metre drill program at Nevada tungsten project
Blue Moon Metals Inc. (NASDAQ: BMM) has announced a two-phase, 67,000-metre diamond drilling program at its Springer Tungsten Project in Pershing County, Nevada, according to a company statement.
The company has signed a Limited Notice to Proceed with Geotech Drilling Services Ltd. for the program, which is planned to begin in August 2026 using two diamond drill rigs, scaling up to six rigs. The program is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2027.
Phase 1 consists of approximately 7,000 metres of drilling at depths of 200 to 300 metres, targeting near-surface mineralized zones at the George Pit area and the Sutton Underground beds. Phase 2 is planned at approximately 60,000 metres, with hole depths ranging from 300 to 1,000 metres, targeting mineralization below the water table.
Alongside the drilling program, the company plans to re-log and re-assay 18,000 metres of historical diamond drill core originally collected by General Electric during the late 1970s and early 1980s. To date, 7,154 metres have been re-logged. Samples are being analyzed by ALS Geochemistry in Reno, Nevada.
The company also plans volume and grade estimation of 16 historical surface stockpiles, an auger sampling campaign across a 1.94 km² tailings impoundment, and airborne radiometric and magnetic geophysical surveys covering approximately 567 km². Pioneer Exploration has been commissioned for the geophysical surveys.
Blue Moon has initiated preliminary metallurgical testing with SGS Lakefield using 453 kg of material from the Sutton 3 stockpile, as well as a preliminary ore sorting test program with an Australian group. An additional 700 kg is planned for submission to a secondary ore sorting group in Canada.
During the re-logging program, the company's exploration team identified potential sheeted quartz vein systems within granodiorite stocks, with pXRF measurements indicating correlations between bismuth and tellurium. The company stated that analytical results are pending to assess whether the system may represent a Reduced Intrusion-Related Gold System.
