Cboe options volume hits records in June, Q2 2026

Cboe Global Markets (Cboe: CBOE) reported record trading volumes across its U.S. options exchanges in June and the second quarter of 2026, according to a press release issued July 6.

The company's four options exchanges combined for a quarterly average daily volume (ADV) of 21.9 million contracts and a monthly ADV of 23.0 million contracts, both records. A single-day total volume record of 33.4 million contracts was set on June 5.

Index options also set multiple records. Quarterly ADV for proprietary index options reached 6.2 million contracts, while S&P 500 Index (SPX) options hit a quarterly ADV record of 5.1 million contracts. SPX zero-days-to-expiry (0DTE) options set a quarterly ADV record of 3.1 million contracts and a monthly ADV record of 3.3 million contracts.

Multi-listed options ADV for June reached 16.6 million contracts, up 40.5% from 11.8 million in June 2025. Index options ADV rose 36.8% year-over-year to 6.3 million contracts. Futures ADV increased 30.5% to 242,000 contracts.

U.S. equities on-exchange matched shares ADV rose 22.8% year-over-year to 2.19 billion shares, while off-exchange matched shares more than doubled, up 103.2% to 250 million shares. Global FX ADV climbed 25.5% to $64.3 billion.

Cboe Clear Europe processed 144.4 million cleared trades in June, up 30.5% from the prior year, with net settlements rising 30.2% to 1.4 million.

For the second quarter of 2026, Cboe projected revenue per contract of $0.953 for index options and $0.064 for multi-listed options. The total options net capture was projected at $0.317 per contract. The company noted these figures are preliminary estimates and subject to change.
