Corbus Pharmaceuticals Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRBP) has appointed Leonardo Viana Nicacio, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer, according to a company statement.

Dr. Nicacio brings more than 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, most recently serving as Chief Medical Officer at Protara Therapeutics. Before that, he was Senior Vice President, Head of Clinical Development and Global Medical Affairs at Stemline Therapeutics, a subsidiary of the Menarini Group.

From 2017 to 2023, Dr. Nicacio held roles of increasing responsibility at Seagen, which was acquired by Pfizer in December 2023, most recently as Vice President of Clinical Development. In that role, he worked on programs across multiple cancer types and contributed to the development of TIVDAK, a therapy for metastatic cervical cancer. Earlier in his career, he held positions at AstraZeneca, Flatiron Health, Sanofi, and YM Biosciences.

Dr. Nicacio holds a medical degree from Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Minas Gerais in Brazil and completed a molecular biology fellowship at the New York Blood Center. He is board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

Corbus stated it expects to initiate the TEMPO-1 registrational study of its drug candidate CRB-701 in second-line oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma during the summer of 2026. The randomized controlled study will enroll approximately 250 patients, with overall response rate as the primary endpoint. The company also indicated it expects to report topline data from its CANYON-1 Phase 1b obesity study of CRB-913 in late summer 2026, and an anticipated data readout of CRB-701 in first-line oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma in early 2027.

Corbus said broad alignment was reached with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on trial designs for both the OPSCC and cervical cancer studies of CRB-701.
