Rekor launches Scout Axis Agent with tamper-evident video for Axis cameras
Rekor Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: REKR) announced the launch of the Rekor Scout Axis Agent with Go-Secure.Video, a software-based capability that enables supported Axis cameras to perform automated license plate recognition (ALPR) and vehicle recognition with cryptographically signed, tamper-evident video.
The agent runs directly on Axis cameras equipped with ARTPEC-8 and ARTPEC-9 processors, connecting them to Rekor's cloud-based Scout recognition engine. The engine includes license plate recognition, vehicle make, model, color, and year identification, along with hotlist matching, alerts, search, and case tools.
Go-Secure.Video is designed to sign video at the moment of capture on the camera itself, before the footage leaves the device. If video is later altered, truncated, or spliced, those changes can be detected cryptographically, according to the company.
"Technical trust has to begin at capture," said Chris Kadoch, Chief Technology Officer at Rekor. "With Go-Secure.Video integrated into the Rekor Scout Axis Agent, we are bringing cryptographic integrity closer to the source of the video itself."
The product is intended for integrators, public safety agencies, municipalities, transportation departments, schools, campuses, critical infrastructure operators, and commercial customers. Unlike traditional ALPR deployments that may require dedicated proprietary hardware, the Scout Axis Agent works on cameras customers may already have installed.
The system supports solar power and cellular connectivity for deployments at locations without existing power or network access. It buffers data locally and adjusts video bitrate in challenging network conditions. The camera sends data outbound to Rekor, and no inbound connectivity to the camera is required.
"Customers want the operational benefits of vehicle recognition, but they also want systems that are open, accountable, secure, and designed with privacy and evidentiary trust in mind," said Robert A. Berman, Rekor's Chair and CEO.
Rekor stated the Scout Axis Agent complements previously announced patented approaches for privacy-protected traffic monitoring and policy-based data retention. The information in this article is based on a press release issued by Rekor Systems.
