SEALSQ outlines post-quantum security roadmap for automotive sector

SEALSQ Corp (NASDAQ: LAES) announced a roadmap to bring post-quantum cryptography to the automotive industry, targeting vehicle security systems ranging from Trusted Platform Modules to custom quantum-resistant chips.

According to a press release, the company plans to offer a product line that includes automotive Trusted Platform Modules, secure microcontrollers, licensable Hardware Security Module IP, chiplet-based Hardware Security Modules, and fully custom Quantum-Resistant ASICs, referred to as QASICs. The offerings are intended for use by original equipment manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, and semiconductor makers.

SEALSQ stated that its automotive design work draws on the 2025 acquisition of IC'Alps, which added approximately 100 ASIC design engineers with automotive backgrounds. The combined unit operates as SEALSQ ASIC Design Services and is described as compliant with ISO 26262, IATF 16949, and ISO/SAE 21434 standards.

The company said its designs are engineered to resist both classical cyberattacks and future quantum-computing threats, and support hybrid classical-plus-post-quantum cryptography schemes. The products are also hardened against side-channel and fault-injection attacks.

"In the vehicle, safety and security can no longer be separated, and today's cyber risks cannot be separated from tomorrow's quantum threats," said Carlos Moreira, Chairman and CEO of SEALSQ.

"By bringing together close to 100 automotive-experienced ASIC engineers with SEALSQ's post-quantum IP under one roof, we can co-design tailor-made devices," said Jean-Luc Triouleyre, General Manager of SEALSQ ASIC Design Services.

SEALSQ noted that vehicles built today may remain on the road for 15 to 20 years, and that the UNECE R155 cybersecurity type-approval regulation is currently in force for new vehicles in Europe.
