Square adds ChatGPT and Claude integrations for seller discovery

July 1, 2026 9:00 AM

Square, a unit of Block, Inc., announced integrations with ChatGPT and Claude that allow eligible sellers to be discovered and receive orders through AI-powered platforms, according to a company statement.

Food and beverage sellers in the U.S. with an activated Square Online Ordering profile are the first to go live. Customers can browse menus and place orders through the integrations using Order by Cash App, with orders routing directly into sellers' existing Square point-of-sale and Kitchen Display System setups. Square said it will not charge additional marketplace commissions on orders placed through these channels.

Eligible sellers are automatically enrolled with no additional technical setup required. Business information, menu data, hours, and ordering details are synced in real time through sellers' existing Square Dashboard.

Square said it is also working with Amazon to bring sellers into Alexa+ voice commerce experiences. The company is participating in several agentic commerce standards groups, including the AAIF Agentic Commerce Working Group, the W3C Web Payments Working Group, and the Universal Commerce Protocol, through which Square is partnering with Google to co-develop specifications for local food ordering and delivery.

"Consumer behaviors and preferences are constantly evolving, and business owners can easily find themselves playing an impossible game of catch-up," said Morgan Kuntze, Global Partnerships Lead at Block. "Our investment into agentic commerce aims to offload that responsibility by giving operators time back, helping connect them with customers in their communities."

Square said it currently serves more than 4.5 million sellers across search, maps, social, and marketplace channels. According to NielsenIQ data cited in the release, more than 42% of consumers now use AI tools to assist with shopping tasks. A separate Morgan Stanley estimate projects that agentic shoppers could drive nearly $385 billion in U.S. ecommerce spending by 2030.
