Agilent launches AI software module for cell imaging instrument
Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) has launched an AI-powered software module for its xCELLigence RTCA eSight instrument, the company announced in a press release.
The new module, part of xCELLigence RTCA eSight Software 1.5.0, is designed to reduce manual cell segmentation steps and parameter tuning in label-free imaging analysis. It replaces manual thresholding with a one-click approach intended to standardize analysis across users, cell types and assay conditions.
The xCELLigence RTCA eSight instrument combines imaging and impedance measurements from the same cells in the same experiment. The AI module extends that dual-readout capability by automating the imaging analysis component.
Carole Perrot, Ph.D., core facility director at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, said the module "has substantially reduced the time our users spend for image analysis" and that "its automated, consistent performance across a variety of cell types and experimental conditions has improved workflow efficiency while helping ensure reproducible results."
Knut Wintergerst, vice president and general manager of the Life Sciences and Diagnostics Markets Group at Agilent, said the software brings "straightforward, objective analysis" to label-free live cell imaging, adding that the company is "enabling more consistent, reproducible insights that help accelerate discovery and translational research."
Agilent reported revenue of $6.95 billion in fiscal year 2025 and employs approximately 18,000 people worldwide.
