New Era Energy & Digital names new CEO and expands leadership team
New Era Energy & Digital, Inc. (Nasdaq: NUAI) announced a series of leadership changes effective July 1, 2026, including a new chief executive officer and two additional executive appointments.
Charlie Nelson, previously President and Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. E. Will Gray II, who previously served on the Board of Directors, transitions to the role of President of the Permian, focused on the company's Permian Basin relationships and development initiatives.
Ted Warner has been named President and Chief Financial Officer and appointed to the company's Board of Directors. Warner will continue to oversee finance and capital markets functions alongside broader strategic planning responsibilities.
José Rodriguez has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. Rodriguez previously held data center and infrastructure leadership roles at Microsoft, TikTok, and Amazon Web Services. Earlier in his career, he worked on gas turbine and nuclear power infrastructure at GE, Entergy, and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
The company also noted the recent appointment of Darin Rovell as Chief Accounting Officer. Rovell brings more than 15 years of public-company and consulting experience, most recently at HF Sinclair and previously at At Home Group.
"New Era is entering a new phase that requires disciplined execution across data center delivery, power development, commercial partnerships, capital formation and public-company operations," Nelson said in the statement.
New Era Energy & Digital is developing large-scale data centers in energy-rich U.S. markets. Its flagship project, Texas Critical Data Centers, is a 492-acre site in the Permian Basin with anticipated capacity scaling to 1.4 gigawatts.
