Vishay launches six SMD polymer PTC thermistor series
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has introduced six new surface-mount polymer positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistor series under its BCcomponents brand, expanding its overcurrent protection portfolio.
According to a company press release, the PPTC0603E3, PPTC0805E3, PPTC1206E3, PPTC1210E3, PPTC1812E3, and PPTC2920E3 series are designed for use in computer USB-C ports, power over Ethernet applications, battery-powered industrial tools, consumer devices, industrial automation systems, and home automation heating controls.
The thermistors offer holding current up to 5.0 A and trip times as fast as 50 ms. Minimum resistance is as low as 5 mΩ. The devices are available in six case sizes ranging from 0603 to 2920, with heights between 0.3 mm and 2 mm.
Maximum voltage ratings range from 6 VDC to 90 VDC depending on the series, while maximum current ratings range from 10 A to 100 A. The components are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and compatible with lead-free soldering processes up to 260 °C. SPICE and 3D models are available to support circuit design.
Samples and production quantities are available, with lead times of 12 weeks.
