Ken Garff Automotive uses Domo and Snowflake to cut report wait times
Domo (NASDAQ: DOMO) announced that Ken Garff Automotive Group, a family-owned automotive retailer operating more than 70 dealerships across nine states, has adopted a data platform combining Domo and Snowflake to manage more than 4 billion operational records.
According to a press release from Domo, Ken Garff previously relied on an on-premise reporting system that could not keep pace with the volume and complexity of its data. The company has since migrated to Snowflake as its cloud data platform, with Domo serving as its analytics layer.
One reported outcome of the transition is a reduction in employee wait time tied to a single service department report. Ken Garff identified approximately 400 hours of monthly wait time associated with that report under its legacy system. The new architecture allows staff to access the same information faster during the workday.
"I think of us as a data company that sells cars. The simplicity of using Snowflake and Domo together has been great," said Steve Peterson, Director of Data Engineering at Ken Garff Automotive Group. "There's no way we could have handled that with our traditional system, let alone prepare our data ecosystem for the future of AI in automotive retail."
The platform also enables role-based data access from the corporate office down to individual dealerships, and the IT team uses it to analyze support ticket data to identify recurring issues.
Ken Garff said it is exploring additional applications, including service desk chatbots and tools to strengthen data governance practices.
"When you start thinking about where AI can be implemented most effectively, the answer is always where your data lives," said Tom Howa, Senior Director of Data and Analytics at Ken Garff Automotive Group. "For us, that's Snowflake and Domo."
