Veritone, Inc. (NASDAQ: VERI) has secured a multi-year contract with the California Highway Patrol to deploy its AI-based redaction software, the company said in a press release.

The agreement, procured in partnership with MissionRT, a public safety technology company, will see the CHP use Veritone Redact to automate the removal of personally identifiable information — including faces, license plates, medical information and driver's license numbers — from video, audio and image-based digital evidence.

The CHP, which the press release describes as the largest state police agency in the United States with nearly 11,000 personnel, manages a large volume of digital evidence including body-worn camera footage, dash camera video and 911 audio recordings. Under the Freedom of Information Act, the agency is required to redact sensitive information before releasing evidence in response to public records requests, court support needs or media inquiries.

Veritone states the software reduces evidence preparation time from hours to minutes by processing multiple media types within a single workflow.

"The California Highway Patrol operates in one of the most complex and demanding environments in the country, managing an immense volume of digital evidence daily," said Ryan Steelberg, CEO of Veritone.

Richard Coleman II, CEO and founder of MissionRT, said the integration connects redaction capabilities with broader evidence and public records workflows. "Veritone Redact is a key capability within that ecosystem, automating one of the most time-consuming steps in evidence and public records processing," he said.

Veritone Redact is built on the company's aiWARE platform. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
