Otis launches Gen3 elevator modernization line across EMEA

June 30, 2026 7:01 AM

Otis Worldwide Corporation (NYSE: OTIS) announced the introduction of its Gen3 MOD elevator modernization solutions in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, expanding availability of a product line already offered in the U.S., Canada, and Asia.

The solutions are designed to upgrade existing elevator systems to the Gen3 platform, which includes IoT-enabled monitoring, energy recovery technology, and coated steel belt options. The product line supports both existing belt-driven systems and conversions from traditional rope-based systems to Otis' patented coated steel belt technology.

According to the European Lift Association, more than six million elevators are in use across Europe, with more than half exceeding 25 years of age in many countries. Otis noted that building managers typically begin considering modernization when equipment reaches 15 to 20 years of service.

Otis is offering three package tiers: Plus, Pro, and Full Replacement. The Pro package is currently available only in Germany, France, Spain, and Switzerland. The Gen3 MOD solutions are also compatible with Otis Viva, a set of features aimed at accessibility for aging populations.

Key included technologies span the Otis ONE IoT platform for predictive maintenance, the Otis ReGen drive for energy recapture, and the Otis eView in-car display. The Otis ONE platform requires a maintenance contract and a paid tiered subscription.

The Gen3 MOD line is separate from Otis Arise MOD, which was introduced in EMEA in September 2025 and targets rope-based systems through a phased upgrade approach.

"Modernisation is a powerful way to transform how people experience a building every day," said Thibault Lefébure, President of Otis EMEA, in a statement accompanying the announcement.
