DHT Holdings upgrades two newbuildings from Hyundai delivery
DHT Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: DHT) announced it will implement design upgrades on two newbuilding vessels being delivered from Hyundai in 2026, according to a press release issued June 29, 2026.
The DHT Impala is now expected to be delivered in late July 2026 with the upgrade already integrated, ahead of its original contractual delivery deadline of December 2026. The DHT Gazelle, which was delivered in March 2026, will complete its current cargo commitments before returning to the shipyard for the upgrade in the third quarter of 2026.
To maintain continuity under a long-term time charter during DHT Gazelle's shipyard period, the company will substitute it with DHT Addax, which was also delivered in March 2026.
DHT said the upgrades are intended to ensure trading eligibility and enhance commercial flexibility for the two vessels. The company noted that DHT Antelope and DHT Addax, delivered from Hanwha in January and March 2026 respectively, as well as DHT Oryx, scheduled for delivery in August 2028, do not require any upgrades and are unaffected.
DHT is an independent crude oil tanker company operating a fleet of very large crude carriers (VLCCs) with management offices in Monaco, Norway, Singapore, and India.
