WISeKey says WISeID is positioned for post-quantum identity market
WISeKey International Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: WKEY) announced that its WISeID subsidiary is positioned to benefit from government initiatives aimed at accelerating the migration to post-quantum cryptography (PQC), according to a company statement.
A reported draft U.S. Executive Order would require federal agencies to transition key establishment mechanisms to post-quantum standards by 2030 and digital signatures by 2031. WISeKey said WISeID's platform provides quantum-resilient identity, credential management, and authentication capabilities that can be integrated into existing infrastructures.
"Governments and enterprises worldwide are moving from planning to implementation on post-quantum security, creating a clear, time-bound upgrade cycle for digital identity and authentication," said Carlos Moreira, founder and CEO of WISeKey.
WISeKey said WISeID is integrated with post-quantum technologies developed by its subsidiary SEALSQ Corp (NASDAQ: LAES), a semiconductor and PKI developer. The company cited demand for quantum-resistant digital identity solutions, post-quantum certificate management, and quantum-safe access control as areas where WISeID expects growth.
The press release also referenced "harvest now, decrypt later" threats, in which adversaries collect encrypted data today intending to decrypt it using future quantum computers, as a factor driving demand for quantum-resistant security products.
