Moderna outlines three-horizon growth strategy at 2026 Science Day
Moderna (NASDAQ: MRNA) outlined a long-term growth framework at its 2026 Science Day event, organized around three development horizons spanning near-term commercial products to early-stage research programs.
The first horizon covers established modalities, including infectious disease vaccines, individualized cancer therapy intismeran autogene, and rare disease therapeutics. Moderna said it anticipates up to three new product launches in 2027 and 2028, including a flu-plus-COVID combination vaccine, a seasonal flu vaccine, and a norovirus vaccine. The company also expects pivotal clinical data readouts this year for intismeran autogene and a propionic acidemia therapeutic.
The second horizon focuses on advancing new modalities toward clinical proof-of-concept. One program, mRNA-2808, a T-cell engager for multiple myeloma, is currently in Phase 1/2 development. Moderna said it is also advancing a preclinical T-cell engager program, mRNA-2151, for ovarian cancer toward early clinical development.
The third horizon includes programs approaching clinical entry. Moderna highlighted mRNA-6007, an investigational in vivo CAR-T program targeting autoimmune conditions, with an initial focus on systemic lupus erythematosus.
Moderna said it is targeting cash breakeven by 2028, with plans to reinvest proceeds from marketed and anticipated product launches into later-stage pipeline programs. The company also noted recent leadership changes, including an expanded role for President Stephen Hoge and the appointment of Ester Banque as Chief Commercial Officer.
