June 25, 2026 1:33 PM

Velocity Network (VNET Fiber) is adopting the Calix Agent Workforce Cloud on the Calix One platform and deploying SmartMDU to expand into the multi-dwelling unit (MDU) market, according to a press release from Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX).

The move builds on a 15-year relationship between the two companies. VNET Fiber reported 660 percent residential subscriber growth over just over two years, a nearly 10 percent year-over-year increase in average revenue per user (ARPU), and 133 percent of its annual small and medium-sized business (SMB) subscriber goal achieved in 2026. The company also holds a Net Promoter Score of 87.

VNET Fiber said it plans to use the Agent Workforce Cloud to identify expansion opportunities and service issues while lowering operational expenses. The SmartMDU deployment is intended to extend the company's existing managed service approach to MDU residents.

Brad Wiertel, chief operating officer at VNET Fiber, said: "We are competing with legacy providers and winning because we move faster, stay local, and deliver more value through managed services. We have gone all-in with Calix because Calix One scales with us and gives us a clear path to lead with secure agentic AI."

Michael Weening, president and chief executive officer at Calix, said: "Agentic is creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity for service providers. The winners will use AI securely to transform operations, accelerate experiences, and create a competitive advantage that scales."

Calix describes itself as an AI platform company serving more than 1,200 customers. The company states it has invested more than $2 billion in developing the Calix One platform over 15 years.
