June 24, 2026 1:27 PM

TotalEnergies (NYSE: TTE) has signed an agreement to enter the Bab Gas Cap Concession in Abu Dhabi with a 10% interest, according to a company press release.

The concession's other partners include ADNOC (60%), bp (10%), CNPC (8%), JODCO/INPEX (5%), ZhenHua (4%), and GS Energy (3%). The concession will be operated by ADNOC Onshore.

The Bab onshore field's gas cap resources are targeted to reach a production rate of 1.5 billion cubic feet per day. The project also aims to expand liquids production from condensates and increase gas output, which Abu Dhabi says aligns with its strategy to reinforce its LNG value chain.

TotalEnergies also holds a 10% stake in the Ruwais LNG project, which includes a liquefaction plant with two electric trains totaling 9.6 million metric tons per year of capacity.

Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, said the entry into the new concession "underlines TotalEnergies' commitment to stand alongside ADNOC" and described the project as adding "low-cost, low-emissions resources with significant potential for production growth."

TotalEnergies reported hydrocarbon production in the UAE of 393,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2025. The company also holds a 5% stake in ADNOC LNG.
