Nebius (Nasdaq: NBIS) has released version 3.6 of its AI Cloud platform, called "Aether," adding a natural-language infrastructure agent, expanded security controls, and storage performance improvements.

The update introduces Nebius Echo, an AI agent built into the web console that allows users to control cloud infrastructure using natural language. Echo can answer questions and execute core operations, with guardrails intended to prevent unintentional actions. The agent runs on open-source models hosted on Nebius Token Factory, the company's inference platform. Infrastructure debugging and multi-step infrastructure-as-code deployments are listed as upcoming features.

The release adds security and governance features including a Key Management Service with customer-managed encryption keys and cryptographic erasure, and Workload Identity Federation for credential-free authentication. A new Budgets feature lets teams set spending targets and threshold-based alerts across projects.

Storage improvements include local SSDs on GPU servers, a new Intelligent Object Storage Class that automatically moves archived data to a lower-cost tier with no request or egress fees, and a 30% increase in read bandwidth for single-threaded Object Storage connections. The shared filesystem now delivers three times more IOPS for 4K file operations and up to 100 times more IOPS for metadata-heavy workloads, with validated cluster sizes reaching 100 petabytes.

Nebius also launched the Nebius Builder Program in early preview, offering developers and machine learning engineers credits across its cloud, inference, and learning platforms, along with engineer office hours. The company simultaneously introduced Nebius Certifications, developed by Nebius Academy, starting with an AI Cloud Ops associate-level credential. Additional certification tracks are planned for coming weeks.
