Investing.com - Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) was awarded a $2 billion contract by the U.S. Department of War on Monday for the Mobile User Objective System service life extension Phase II effort, the department announced.

The maximum $2,002,862,607 fixed-price-incentive-firm-target contract covers the design, development, build, launch support, and on-orbit test support of two MUOS satellites. Work will be performed in El Segundo, California, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2035.

The contract was a competitive acquisition and two offers were received. Fiscal 2026 research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $204,083,073 are being obligated at time of award. Space Systems Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California, is the contracting activity.

Boeing was also awarded a separate $16,224,988 firm-fixed-price contract on Monday for the procurement of 25 structural ring assemblies for Marine Corps V-22 Osprey aircraft. Work will be performed in Sante Fe Springs, California, and Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, and is expected to be completed by October 2032.

The Osprey contract was a sole-source requirement with one offer received. Fiscal 2026 working capital funds in the full contract amount will be obligated at time of award. Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the contracting activity.
