BNY Mellon fund boards retain seats after defeating dissident nominee
BNY Mellon Investment Adviser, Inc. announced that incumbent board nominees for two closed-end funds — BNY Mellon Strategic Municipals, Inc. (LEO) and BNY Mellon Strategic Municipal Bond Fund, Inc. (DSM) — retained their seats following annual stockholder meetings held on June 11, 2026.
According to certified voting results, three incumbent board nominees for each fund received more votes than a dissident nominee, allowing the current boards of directors to continue overseeing the funds.
BNY Mellon Investment Adviser, Inc. is part of BNY Investments, which reported $2.1 trillion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026. Its parent, The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (NYSE: BNY), reported $59.4 trillion in assets under custody and/or administration as of the same date.
