Safe Pro wins $1.3M subcontract for AI landmine detection on UGVs
Safe Pro Group Inc. (Nasdaq: SPAI) has been awarded a $1.3 million U.S. government subcontract under Forterra to integrate its AI-powered threat detection technology into autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs), according to a company statement.
Under the award, Safe Pro will integrate and test its computer vision and machine learning pipeline onboard the UGVs for real-time detection of explosive threats during on-the-move operations. The work is being conducted as a subcontract under Forterra, described as a U.S. defense prime contractor.
The technology is based on Safe Pro's patented SPOTD (Safe Pro Object Threat Detection) system, which the company says can identify more than 150 types of explosive threats, including landmines, cluster munitions, and unexploded ordnance. The underlying AI dataset includes more than 2.8 million drone images and over 50,368 confirmed detections collected across more than 35,000 acres of land.
The new subcontract extends Safe Pro's existing drone-based detection capabilities to ground vehicle platforms, which the company refers to as its RoadSight UGV capability.
