Nvidia launches BioNeMo Agent Toolkit for life sciences AI agents
Nvidia announced the BioNeMo Agent Toolkit, a collection of domain-specific tools and models designed to enable AI agents to perform computational tasks across biology, chemistry, genomics and drug discovery.
The toolkit consolidates more than a decade of Nvidia life sciences libraries, tools and open models, according to a company statement. It includes Nvidia BioNeMo, NIM microservices, Parabricks, NeMo, Nemotron and NemoClaw technologies, along with the OpenShell runtime environment.
More than 50 companies are reported to be using the toolkit. Anthropic and OpenAI are integrating it into their platforms, while Dassault Systèmes, Databricks, Lilly, Schrödinger, Snowflake and the University of Washington's Institute for Protein Design are among the adopters.
The toolkit allows AI agents to execute tasks including protein structure prediction, molecular docking, generative chemistry, genomic analysis, protein design and biomarker discovery. Nvidia said agents using the toolkit can compress virtual screening timelines from days to minutes.
A collaboration with the University of Washington's Institute for Protein Design has resulted in 2x faster performance for the RosettaFold3 biodesign model compared with the prior generation.
"Frontier models are the brains. BioNeMo is the scientific toolbox. Together, they give AI agents the skills of a PhD research assistant and the speed of a supercomputer," said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia.
The announcement was made at the BIO conference in San Diego. Nvidia trades on Nasdaq as NASDAQ: NVDA.
