Nokia unveils agentic AI tools for telecom network automation

June 23, 2026 5:39 AM

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced a series of upgrades to its autonomous networks portfolio at the DTW event in Copenhagen, introducing agentic AI capabilities aimed at helping telecommunications providers manage network operations and traffic demands.

The company released a new Autonomous Networks Agent Library, an updated version of its Autonomous Networks Suite, enhanced radio access network automation, and new AI-driven frameworks covering IP, fixed, and optical networks.

The Agent Library includes pre-built AI agents designed to handle security, assurance, and service operations tasks, such as identifying zero-day attacks, root cause analysis, and service order troubleshooting. Nokia said productivity gains from these agents typically range from 60% to 80% compared to traditional operations.

The updated Autonomous Networks Suite adds on-premise deployment options and new use cases, including improved VoLTE service quality and enhanced radio access network subscriber experience.

Nokia's MantaRay SMO solution now includes Non-Real-Time RIC functionality with AI-enabled rApps. The company said it is working with NTT DOCOMO on SMO-driven autonomy through MantaRay SON and AutoPilot trials.

For fixed networks, Nokia said new agentic AI capabilities across its Altiplano, Corteca, and Broadband Easy platforms are targeting first-contact helpdesk resolution rates above 50%, network incident qualification within five minutes, and a 50% reduction in return visits to construction sites and connected homes.

"As networks evolve from static infrastructure into programmable, AI-native platforms, there's growing pressure to manage unpredictable traffic patterns driven by AI-intensive workloads," said Pallavi Mahajan, Chief Technology and AI Officer at Nokia.

Research firm IDC commented on the announcement, with Research Manager Chris Silberberg noting that Nokia's approach "is already achieving quantifiable business value" for customers navigating agentic AI integration across network and IT domains.
