Sun Communities names Ileana McAlary as general counsel and EVP

Sun Communities, Inc. (NYSE: SUI) has appointed Ileana McAlary as General Counsel, Executive Vice President, and Secretary, effective June 29, 2026, according to a press release from the Southfield, Michigan-based real estate investment trust.



McAlary joins Sun Communities from SpartanNash (Nasdaq: SPTN), where she served as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary. In that role, she oversaw the company's legal, compliance, government affairs, aviation, and food safety and quality assurance functions.



Earlier in her career, McAlary held the position of Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Compliance Officer at Wolverine Worldwide (NYSE: WWW), and held senior legal roles at Meijer and Amway Corporation.



Chief Executive Officer Charles D. Young said McAlary "brings a unique combination of strategic counsel, operational rigor, mergers and acquisitions expertise, and public company governance expertise."



McAlary holds a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and a B.A. in International Relations and Business from Grand Valley State University. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.



Sun Communities owns, operates, or has an interest in 515 developed properties comprising approximately 179,300 developed sites across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as of March 31, 2026.
