Walmart Inc. (Nasdaq: WMT) and its Sam's Club division announced a nationwide initiative to help Medicare beneficiaries navigate new prescription drug coverage options related to weight management, including a Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program.

The effort will be carried out across nearly 5,000 Walmart and Sam's Club locations, including stores in rural and medically underserved communities. Services offered include one-on-one pharmacist consultations, educational materials on prescription coverage pathways, digital health navigation tools, and connections to government and healthcare resources.

"Healthcare can be complex, especially when coverage programs change," said Kevin Host, SVP of Walmart Health & Wellness. "Our goal is to help customers access trusted information, understand their options, and feel confident navigating the healthcare system."

Walmart noted that approximately 90% of the U.S. population lives within 10 miles of one of its stores, positioning its pharmacy network as a point of access for health information, particularly in areas where healthcare resources are limited.

Support services may also include nutrition resources, wellness products, same-day pharmacy delivery, and pharmacist guidance on medication use and healthy habits for customers using or considering GLP-1 treatments.

Sam's Club also highlighted its pharmacy services as part of the initiative. Matt Holt, VP of Healthcare Operations at Sam's Club, said, "Our members place tremendous trust in their pharmacists, and we take that responsibility seriously."

Both companies stated their role is limited to education, navigation support, and pharmacy services, with eligibility determinations and treatment decisions remaining the responsibility of government programs, health plans, and healthcare providers.
