F5 launches AI security platform and acquires SurePath AI
F5 (NASDAQ: FFIV) has launched an AI Security Platform and acquired SurePath AI, a company focused on network-based AI discovery and shadow AI detection, according to a press release from the Seattle-based firm.
The platform is designed to provide enterprises with visibility, governance, and protection across AI applications, models, agents, and the APIs connecting them. It supports on-premises, air-gapped, private cloud, hybrid, and public cloud deployments.
SurePath AI's technology enables detection of unauthorized AI usage across enterprise networks without requiring direct application integrations. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The platform includes five components: AI governance, AI discovery, AI security testing, AI runtime protection, and AI observability. F5 states the platform tests AI systems against more than 140,000 attack patterns and has demonstrated up to 98.2% security efficacy in independent testing for its runtime protection capability.
"Most AI security today is a wrapper around a chatbot. That is not security," said Kunal Anand, Chief Product Officer at F5. "The F5 AI Security Platform gives CISOs and security leaders what they have been missing: continuous control over every model, agent, and API, wherever the AI runs."
F5's 2026 State of Application Strategy Report, cited in the release, states that 88% of organizations report at least one AI-related operational or security challenge, and 98% are preparing for agentic AI deployment.
