CVS Health expands GLP-1 access with $49 virtual visits, Medicare cap

CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) announced a set of new GLP-1 medication support programs across its pharmacy and clinic operations, including a $50 monthly copay cap for eligible Medicare patients and $49 virtual visits through MinuteClinic, according to a company press release dated June 22, 2026.

Starting July 1, 2026, CVS Pharmacy will participate in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, which runs through December 31, 2027. The program allows eligible Medicare beneficiaries to access certain GLP-1 medications at $50 per month.

For patients without Medicare coverage, CVS Pharmacy said out-of-pocket costs can reach as low as $25 per month through commercial insurance combined with a manufacturer coupon, or $149 per month for uninsured patients using a manufacturer voucher for qualifying medications and doses. CVS Pharmacy is also a retail partner for NovoCare, a program offering discounted Wegovy and Ozempic.

MinuteClinic is launching a virtual weight management service available in 47 states and Washington, D.C. The program is priced at $49 per visit with no recurring membership fee, and is designed for self-pay adults aged 18 to 64 who are overweight or living with obesity. Patients receive a video consultation with a licensed physician associate or nurse practitioner, who can prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1 medications where clinically appropriate.

CVS Pharmacy is also expanding its over-the-counter product offerings to help patients manage common GLP-1 side effects such as nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort. In select store locations, dedicated product displays sponsored by Haleon will highlight relevant items. The company cited side effects as one of the leading reasons patients discontinue GLP-1 therapy.

"Access is only part of the equation with GLP-1 medications. Patients also need support to stay on therapy and see results," said Sid Tenneti, Senior Vice President and Interim President, Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness.

CVS Health operates approximately 9,000 retail pharmacy locations nationwide.
