Greenstone Biosciences and Intel team up on AI drug discovery
Greenstone Biosciences, Inc. and Intel Corp. (NASDAQ: INTC) have announced a collaboration to use artificial intelligence and human stem cell biology to accelerate drug discovery and safety assessment.
The partnership combines Greenstone's human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) biobank with Intel's Edge AI computing infrastructure to process, store, and analyze large-scale biological datasets. Greenstone claims to operate the world's largest human iPSC biobank, though this characterization comes from the company's own press release.
The collaboration was highlighted during Intel's Computex 2026 keynote address.
"This collaboration represents an important step toward more human-centered drug development," said Joseph C. Wu, M.D., Ph.D., co-founder of Greenstone Biosciences and director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute. "By combining our iPSC-based systems with Intel's advanced computing architecture, we identify patient-specific response patterns, improve prediction of adverse drug effects, and advance new medicines more quickly and at a lower cost."
The companies said the work also aligns with US FDA regulatory momentum around New Approach Methodologies, as outlined in the FDA Modernization Act 3.0, which aims to complement traditional animal studies in preclinical drug testing.
Greenstone Biosciences is based in the Stanford Research Park in Palo Alto, California, and is backed by investors including Walden Catalyst, Mayfield, and Prosperity 7 Ventures.
