Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has introduced four power inductors in its new IHDV line, designed for automotive, energy, and industrial applications requiring 1.5 kV isolation voltages.

The devices include two automotive-grade models — IHDV-0808AC-3A and IHDV-1008BB-3A — and two commercial models — IHDV-0808AC-30 and IHDV-1008BB-30. They are available in 0808 (20 mm x 14 mm x 14 mm) and 1008 (25 mm x 20 mm x 23 mm) case sizes and support continuous operation up to 180 °C.

According to the company, the devices use a PET plastic coilform insulator to achieve the 1.5 kV isolation rating, which it says exceeds the 350 V typical of existing inductors. A powdered iron alloy core enables soft saturation behavior, allowing inductance to remain stable under load while withstanding transient in-rush currents up to five times the heat rating current.

The 0808 models provide 1 kΩ impedance at 80 MHz, while the 1008 models deliver 2.8 kΩ at 25 MHz. Stated applications include on-board chargers, battery-charging circuits, power factor correction, and high voltage DC battery filtering.

The 0808 models feature surface-mount terminations, while the larger 1008 models use through-hole terminations. All four devices are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free, and include support pins for shock and vibration resistance. The automotive variants are AEC-Q200 qualified.

Key specifications include a heat rating current of 30 A for all models. The 0808 models carry an inductance of 1.9 µH and saturation current of 110 A, while the 1008 models offer 10 µH inductance and 68 A saturation current.
