Kyndryl (NYSE: KD) and Amazon Web Services have expanded their multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement to help enterprise customers adopt and scale agentic AI while modernizing mission-critical workloads on AWS, according to a press release issued June 18, 2026.

Under the expanded agreement, AWS will invest in Kyndryl's talent development, joint solution engineering, AI specialization and industry-focused modernization capabilities. Kyndryl's global AWS business and technical team currently includes more than 11,000 AWS-certified professionals.

The two companies plan to co-develop industry-specific agentic AI modernization blueprints, offerings and delivery capabilities. The collaboration will focus on automating routine tasks, coordinating workflows and supporting workload migrations to AWS across large, distributed environments.

Kyndryl cited data from its own Kyndryl Readiness Report, noting that more than 68% of customers are investing heavily in AI but most are not realizing anticipated benefits or operational efficiencies.

"Many organizations are focused on adopting agentic AI, but they are stuck in the experimentation phase instead of applying it in a way that actually makes a difference for their business," said Giovanni Carraro, Global Strategic Alliances Leader at Kyndryl.

"Customers want to put agentic AI to work transforming their businesses, but moving from experimentation to production requires deep operational expertise," said Julia Chen, Vice President, Partner Core, AWS.

Kyndryl noted a recent project with AWS involving Alpitour World, a European tourism company, in which it completed an IT modernization and cloud migration, moving the company's core mainframe workloads to AWS.

The expanded agreement also covers Kyndryl's role as a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud initiative. The collaboration will extend Kyndryl's existing AWS competencies, which include Mainframe Modernization, AI, Agentic AI, Digital Sovereignty and multiple AWS Industry Competencies.
