Allstate reports $289M in May catastrophe losses
The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) reported estimated catastrophe losses of $289 million, or $228 million after-tax, for the month of May 2026, according to a company statement.
Combined catastrophe losses for April and May totaled $1.16 billion, or $915 million after-tax.
Allstate Protection policies in force reached 38.799 million as of May 31, 2026, up 0.3% from 38.667 million at the end of April and 2.4% higher than the 37.880 million recorded a year earlier.
Auto policies in force stood at 25.901 million at the end of May, a 0.4% increase from April and 2.7% higher year-over-year. Homeowners policies rose 0.3% from April to 7.788 million, representing a 2.6% increase compared to May 2025. Other personal lines policies reached 4.930 million, up 0.2% from the prior month and 0.9% from the prior year. Commercial lines policies totaled 180,000, unchanged from a year ago.
The company noted that policies in force will be reported in its quarterly earnings releases going forward.
