June 18, 2026 4:19 AM

Philip Morris International (NYSE: PM) announced regional leadership changes, with two new appointments taking effect Aug. 1, 2026, according to a company statement.

Marco Hannappel has been named President of the Europe Region, succeeding Massimo Andolina, who was previously announced as PMI's Group Chief Financial Officer. Hannappel joined PMI in 2019 as President and Managing Director of Italy and most recently served as President of the Latin America & Canada Region.

Can Kuterdem will succeed Hannappel as President of the Latin America & Canada Region. Kuterdem joined PMI in 2020 and most recently served as Managing Director of Poland. Before PMI, he held roles at The Boston Consulting Group and Samsung.

The four regional presidents report to Frederic de Wilde, CEO of PMI's International Business Unit. The other two regional presidents are Gijs de Best, appointed President of the South Asia, Indochina, CIS & Middle East & Africa Region in January 2026, and Vassilis Gkatzelis, who continues as President of the East & Southeast Asia, Pacific and PMI Global Travel Retail Region, a role he assumed in 2024.

The appointments follow an organizational restructuring PMI implemented earlier in 2026, which established two primary business units: PMI International, led by de Wilde, and PMI U.S., led by Stacey Kennedy, both reporting to Group CEO Jacek Olczak.
