BitGo Europe launches MiCAR-compliant crypto services for EU firms

June 18, 2026 3:38 AM

BitGo Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of BitGo Holdings (NYSE: BTGO), has launched a Crypto-as-a-Service platform aimed at virtual asset service providers navigating the European Union's transition to the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, known as MiCAR.

The platform is authorized by Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) and offers regulated crypto custody, transfer, and trading services across the European Economic Area. Businesses can integrate the services through modular APIs while maintaining their own customer-facing experience.

MiCAR has replaced national crypto registration regimes with a unified EU-wide authorization framework. The transition is described as particularly pressing for businesses previously operating under registration regimes in Lithuania, where the transition period ended Dec. 31, 2025, and Poland, where the domestic implementation path remains unresolved ahead of a July 1, 2026 deadline.

BitGo Europe's platform includes custody and wallet infrastructure, programmatic customer onboarding and KYC tools, trading and settlement services, SEPA payment on- and off-ramps, and insurance for custodial wallets up to $250 million, subject to terms and conditions.

"MiCAR is raising the standard for digital asset businesses across Europe, and many VASPs now need a practical way to adapt without disrupting their customers," said Jody Mettler, COO of BitGo and President of BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association.

Eligible businesses may use the platform while simultaneously pursuing their own licenses under the new regulatory framework, according to the company's statement.
