Applied Materials launches SENZ, an integrated visual system for smart glasses
Applied Materials, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMAT) unveiled SENZ, an integrated ambient visual platform designed for AI-powered smart glasses, according to a company press release dated June 17, 2026.
The system combines waveguide optics, light engine, sensing, vision correction, and electronic dimming technology into a single platform. Applied Materials said the product is intended to reduce time-to-market and manufacturing complexity for customers developing augmented reality displays.
The company said the smart glasses market has been constrained by fragmented supply chains and separate components, and that SENZ addresses this by delivering core visual components as a unified system.
Three partnerships were announced alongside the launch. Applied Materials said it entered a strategic collaboration with GlobalFoundries to produce waveguides at scale using GlobalFoundries' fabrication facility in Singapore. A collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies was also announced as part of the Snapdragon START program. Additionally, Applied Materials disclosed a joint development program with EssilorLuxottica focused on commercializing optical systems for augmented reality and AI-powered smart eyewear.

Brand partners can use the SENZ system solutions and reference designs to develop products. Applied Materials is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
