Stellantis (NYSE: STLA), Wayve, and Uber have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to jointly develop and deploy Level 4 driverless robotaxi services across Europe, North America, and other markets, according to a press release issued June 17, 2026.

The agreement assigns each company a distinct role. Stellantis will design, engineer, and manufacture vehicles built on its L4-Ready Platforms, which include embedded sensor suites and safety redundancies for driverless operations. Wayve will supply its AI driving software, which the company says operates without city-by-city mapping. Uber will deploy the vehicles through its global mobility app.

The collaboration builds on existing relationships among the three companies, including a previously announced L2++ agreement between Stellantis and Wayve, and a separate Wayve-Uber partnership to deploy autonomous rides in London, Tokyo, and ten other cities beginning this year.

The MoU establishes a framework for future agreements covering technology development, licensing, production, and vehicle procurement. Each company retains the ability to pursue additional autonomous driving partnerships independently.

"By combining our L4-Ready Platforms, designed from the ground up for safe and efficient driverless operation, with Wayve's adaptive AI and Uber's global network, we are accelerating the deployment of autonomous vehicles," said Ned Curic, Chief Engineering and Technology Officer at Stellantis.

Sarfraz Maredia, Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery at Uber, said the collaboration is aimed at bringing "safe, reliable autonomy to more riders around the world."

The companies plan to work together on vehicle integration, testing, validation, and deployment, with a stated goal of reaching cities across multiple continents.
