GE Vernova showcases energy tools for Africa at industry forum

June 17, 2026 3:51 AM

GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) presented its energy technology portfolio at the Africa Energy Forum, highlighting digital emissions management tools and grid stability resources aimed at African utilities and industrial operators.

The company demonstrated its CERius™ platform, a digital tool that uses artificial intelligence, analytics, and digital twin technology for emissions monitoring. Tunisia's state utility STEG deployed the platform at the Sousse B power plant, where validation confirmed the system's effectiveness. STEG said it expects the software-driven approach to reduce related investment and maintenance costs by up to 50% compared to hardware-based monitoring. The platform generates auditable emissions data intended to align with international standards, including the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

GE Vernova also released a whitepaper at the event titled "Spain's 2025 Blackout Experience: Grid Firming Needs for Developing Power Systems with High-Renewable Penetration," which draws on the Iberian Peninsula power outage to outline grid stability recommendations for African nations scaling renewable energy capacity.

"Building Africa's industrial future starts with getting the fundamentals right: power that is reliable, sustainable, and ready to scale," said Joseph Anis, President and CEO of GE Vernova's Gas Power business in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

The company said its recommendations include integrating aeroderivative gas turbines, synchronous condensers, and advanced power electronics into grid infrastructure. GE Vernova also referenced a separate whitepaper, "Ensuring Power System Stability in an Evolving Electrical Grid," as a resource for grid modernization planning.
