RIVIAN (NASDAQ: RIVN) and ChargeScape, a vehicle-grid integration platform owned by a consortium of automakers, announced a partnership on June 16, 2026, to enroll Rivian EV batteries into utility managed-charging programs across North America.

Under the agreement, Rivian drivers will be able to opt into ChargeScape's network of utility programs, allowing their vehicles to participate as flexible energy resources in utility managed-charging programs. The integration is intended to enable Rivian vehicles to help balance peak grid demand while offering drivers the ability to reduce charging costs.

ChargeScape is backed by BMW, Ford, Honda, and Nissan, and is also utilized by Tesla, Stellantis, and others. The platform currently manages EV charging programs offering both V1G managed charging and V2X capabilities across dozens of utility partners.

According to the press release, utilities across the United States are facing increased strain from data center demand and are seeking flexible capacity from the approximately 7 million EVs currently on American roads.
