Lifecore Biomedical Inc. (NASDAQ: LFCR) announced it signed an agreement with an unnamed global pharmaceutical company to provide technical transfer services and commercial manufacturing for an injectable suspension product treating neurological disorders.

The Chaska, Minnesota-based contract development and manufacturing organization will handle production of the higher-viscosity suspension formulation for the currently marketed neurology product. The company said this marks its seventh late-stage program agreement in seven months.

"Being selected to produce this higher-viscosity suspension formulation demonstrates confidence in Lifecore's technical know-how and exceptional quality track record," said Paul Josephs, chief executive officer of Lifecore, according to the press release.

Lifecore specializes in sterile injectable pharmaceutical products including syringes, vials, and cartridges. The company also manufactures injectable-grade hyaluronic acid and serves biopharmaceutical and biotechnology companies across multiple therapeutic categories.

The agreement involves technical transfer services to support commercial production of the suspension product. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in the announcement.

Josephs stated that the opportunity highlights increasing demand for specialized manufacturing expertise to produce high-viscosity and complex pharmaceutical products. He said Lifecore's capabilities position the company as a partner for multinational pharmaceutical companies seeking U.S. manufacturing operations.
