EPAM and TGS deploy cloud-based seismic imaging platform on AWS

June 8, 2026 8:02 AM

EPAM Systems, Inc. (NYSE: EPAM) and TGS announced the deployment of TGS Imaging AnyWare on Amazon Web Services, according to a company statement. TGS has begun migrating its imaging systems to AWS Cloud infrastructure to reduce computing costs and improve processing speeds for seismic imaging workflows.

The collaboration addresses technical challenges in the energy sector, including managing large-scale seismic datasets and scaling computational capacity. The platform enables energy companies to process subsurface data through cloud-native workflows rather than traditional on-premises systems.

The partnership delivers three capabilities: centralized access to seismic and well data through TGS Data Verse, cloud-based seismic imaging using AWS Graviton-based instances, and modular workflows through EPAM's Energy HPC Orchestrator built on AWS infrastructure.

"True digital transformation in energy requires partners who understand both the technical complexity and the operational realities of the sector," said Jason Harman, SVP, Head of Business ME & APAC, Energy at EPAM. The collaboration aims to enable energy companies to extract value from subsurface data faster and at scale.

Joseph Santamaria, General Manager, Energy & Utilities at AWS, stated that the partnership helps move energy operators "from data to discovery faster and more cost-effectively than ever before."

Wadii El Karkouri, Executive Vice President of Technology at TGS, said the collaboration delivered "not just new technical capabilities, but a fundamentally better cost-performance model that adds agility and the latest computing innovations to our operations."

The platform uses AWS Spot instances to reduce costs compared to on-demand pricing for select seismic imaging workflows. TGS operates as a provider of energy data and intelligence to companies in the energy sector.
