Summit Midstream secures 150 MMcf/d in new Double E Pipeline agreements
Summit Midstream Corporation (NYSE: SMC) announced it has executed two new long-term firm transportation agreements totaling 150 million cubic feet per day for its Double E Pipeline in the Permian Basin, according to a company statement.
The new agreements bring total Double E open season commitments to 250 MMcf/d and increase the pipeline's total contracted capacity to approximately 1.9 billion cubic feet per day. The company has extended its Double E open season through June 30, 2026, citing significant interest from prospective shippers.
Summit expects to reach a final investment decision on the Double E compression expansion by the end of summer 2026. The company has executed a purchase order for gas turbine compressors to maintain a targeted end-of-2028 in-service date for the project, which would increase pipeline capacity by approximately 50% from 1.6 Bcf/d to 2.4 Bcf/d.
The company also entered into a firm option agreement providing an additional 200 MMcf/d of capacity. Summit stated it continues discussions with multiple shippers who have expressed interest exceeding the 800 to 900 MMcf/d of available expansion capacity.
In the Williston Basin, Summit executed a crude oil gathering agreement in Divide County, North Dakota, covering more than 40,000 acres. The company expects to connect 15 new four-mile lateral wells under this agreement by the end of 2026.
"We have now expanded our dedicated acreage footprint by more than 240,000 acres in just the past six months," said Heath Deneke, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman.
Summit anticipates filing its certificate application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission later this year for the Double E expansion project.
